CITY COUNCIL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS (APRIL 14TH)
The Crossville City Council meeting was held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers. The session began with a Beer Board meeting at 5:45 PM to consider two beer permit applications (Ales & Tails Dog Park, Inc. and Martinos), followed by a public hearing at 5:50 PM on annexation requests, including the Bob Tollett Loop property (TMP 127-083.01).
No one spoke during the public comment period. The Chamber of Commerce provided an update highlighting the city’s 125th anniversary since incorporation in 1901. A special birthday celebration is planned for September 12, 2026, downtown. The Chamber also mentioned ongoing work on the bi-annual wage and benefits survey and invited the public to the dedication of the Don Hench Memorial Disc Golf Course at Roane State Community College on April 27, 2026.
The council approved the consent agenda with one item pulled for separate discussion. Most routine items passed, including budget amendments, approval of prior meeting minutes, annexation resolutions, street improvements, rate increases, temporary street closures for events, various project close-out change orders, engineering contracts and grants, and multiple FY26/27 bids for supplies and services such as salt, chemicals, fertilizer, tires, pest control, street striping, milling, pump repairs, crushed stone, and water line supplies.
In other business, the council voted to table the denial of de-annexation for TMP 101-021.03 for approximately 90 days at the property owner’s request. The City Attorney’s report included authorization to proceed with a lawsuit on a termination matter on Interstate Drive and to increase the litigation budget by $6,000; both items were approved. The council also approved having a council representative (Councilman Mark A. Fox) attend upcoming meetings related to a water authority matter alongside the City Attorney for better communication and input.
City Manager Valerie Hale noted that budget work sessions have been rescheduled to May 1 at 9:00 AM, and reminded everyone that downtown improvement grant applications are due April 30. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
