BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129/ SR 115 Tail of the Dragon: Due to the one lane condition of Interstate 40 near the Tennessee and North Carolina State Line as repairs continue from Hurricane Helene, this is a reminder for commercial vehicles in Tennessee and North Carolina attempting to use US 129 as an alternate around the I-40 work zone. No trucks with trailers over 30 feet in length, or single units over 30 feet in length are permitted on US 129 “The Dragon” in Tennessee or North Carolina. Thru truck traffic in Tennessee should follow I-81 North to I-26 East into North Carolina. These restrictions of US 129 will be strictly enforced day and night.

COFFEE COUNTY SR-2 (US-41) TDOT Bridge Maintenance eastbound at LM 16.81: Bridge repair will be repairing the bridge deck on 04/20/2026 from 8 PM to 3 AM in Lane 2 of the overpass. Traffic control will allow traffic to continue to flow at this location having Lane 1 and the entrance lane to the I-24 Westbound onramp will still be open. THP will be assisting with traffic control on this work.

COFFEE COUNTY SR-55 construction from First Avenue (LM 2.0) to SR-16 (US-41A, N. Jackson St, LM 2.6) in Tullahoma: Phase 2 of roadway widening and bridge replacement on SR-55 (Wilson Ave.) will continue this week. Lanes will be reduced from 3 lanes to 2, with one lane in each direction throughout the project length. Drivers can expect intermittent flagging operations for construction operations and vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.

COCKE COUNTY, I-40 East between Mile Marker 446 and North Carolina State Line: I-40 East is reduced to 1 lane between Mile Marker 446 in Tennessee and Mile Marker 7 in North Carolina due to damage sustained during Hurricane Helene. Traffic wider than 8 ½ feet is prohibited through this area. Wide Loads should follow I-81 North to I-26 East or I-77 South. This area remains a heavily active construction zone as permanent repairs continue. CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 [304.4-306.6] from MM 304.4 to MM 306.6 bridge repair and resurfacing: The contractor continues nighttime work on I-40. Temporary lane closures will be utilized throughout the project limits for the proposed work on the shoulders. Traffic has been shifted along the project route. CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-24 [0-0.16] from Putnam County Line to C189 bridge repair: The contractor continues working on the bridge repair on I-40 at MM 304.6 or SR-24 at LM 0.24. CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-24 [15.056-15.56] from Crossville city limits to Seventh-Day Adventist Church and School bridge replacement: The contractor has closed SR-24 at LM 15.06 to LM 15.6. This closure will remain in place for the duration of the project. The posted detour is along SR-462 and SR-1. The Contractor will be working on general clearing activities and utility work initially. Once initial work is completed, the Contractor will proceed with the replacement of the bridge over the Obed River. Motorists should use caution and utilize the posted detour. CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-28 (US-127) bridge construction and paving from north of I-40 (LM 17.8) to near Potato Farm Road (LM 22.7): The contractor continues grading activities throughout the project limits. Temporary lane closures and/or periodic traffic stoppages will be necessary for construction activities. Flaggers and advanced warning signs will accompany any closures. DEKALB COUNTY SR-26 (US-70) grading, drainage, and construction of retaining walls and paving from near SR-53 (LM 2) to near SR-96 (LM 6.1): The contractor is scheduled to perform a traffic swap 04/16/26, where traffic traveling through the intersection of SR-53 will be diverted to the newly constructed pavement on the south side. Also, through traffic will be diverted to the south portion of the newly constructed alignment throughout the length of the project. DEKALB COUNTY SR-26 [15.9-20.3] from Near Old Snow Hill Road to West of Curtis Road resurfacing: The contractor is scheduled to begin concrete curb work within the project limits starting 04/15/26. During this work, the contractor will have daily lane closures set up to facilitate the work. HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction Phase 2: There are no lane closures scheduled during this time period (April 16 to April 22) for I-24 East and I-24 West from Germantown Road through the I-75 Interchange. Also, no lane closures are scheduled for I-75 North and I-75 South from Exit 1 (East Ridge) through Exit 3 (East Brainerd Road). HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at the Hamilton Place Mall interchange: The SR-153 southbound ramp to I-75 northbound has been reduced to one lane. JACKSON COUNTY SR-56 (JENNINGS CREEK HWY.) TDOT Bridge Inspection northbound at LM 10.98: A scheduled inspection of the PFC Ben Wade Stone Bridge on SR-56, crossing the Cumberland River in Gainesboro, will result in lane closures from 8 AM until 4 PM on Thursday, April 16. The northbound lane and shoulder will be closed for the use of an under-bridge inspection vehicle. Flaggers will use the southbound lane to alternate traffic through the work zone. Motorists are advised to use caution when approaching the bridge. Be alert to the presence of flaggers, bridge inspection personnel, vehicles and equipment.
