WARTBURG OFFICERS COMPLETE ADVANCED TRAINING TO COMBAT DRUG-IMPAIRED DRIVING
Officers Sarah Posey and Wesley King of the Wartburg Police Department have successfully completed the Tennessee Highway Safety Office’s ARIDE (Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement) training. This rigorous program equips officers with advanced skills to better detect and evaluate drivers impaired by alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both.
With drug-impaired driving on the rise across Tennessee, officers can no longer depend solely on the smell of alcohol to identify impairment. The training enhances their ability to recognize impairment indicators, document evidence effectively, and remove dangerous drivers from the roads before tragedies occur. Each impaired driver taken off the highway potentially saves lives—protecting sons, daughters, parents, and neighbors who deserve to make it home safely.
The department expressed gratitude to the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for sponsoring the training and for its ongoing support in equipping law enforcement, especially in smaller departments like Wartburg’s. Officials commended Officers Posey and King for their dedication to professional development and their commitment to community safety.
