CONSTRUCTION PROMPTS CLOSURE OF FREDONIA ROAD IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Starting Monday morning, April 27, 2026, Fredonia Road in Cumberland County will be closed for approximately two weeks to facilitate drainage installation and road realignment as part of the State Route 28 (US 127) improvement project. During this period, traffic will be rerouted via Maynard Road, and motorists should expect delays and watch for posted signage throughout the work zone. Because this construction is weather-dependent, the schedule may shift in the event of inclement weather or unforeseen complications.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) advises drivers to exercise caution and consult tools like the SmartWay Map or 511 before traveling to stay informed on current conditions. Motorists are also reminded to avoid distracted driving and strictly adhere to Tennessee’s Move Over Law, which protects highway workers and emergency responders; failure to comply can lead to fines up to $500 and 30 days of jail time.
