MINOR EARTHQUAKE REPORTED NEAR KINGSTON
A small earthquake with a magnitude of 2.3 struck near Kingston, on Saturday morning around 5 a.m., according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake was centered approximately two and a half miles south-southwest of the city at a depth of about 11.5 kilometers (roughly seven miles).
The area lies within the East Tennessee Seismic Zone, which extends from northeastern Alabama to southwestern Virginia and ranks among the most active earthquake zones in the United States.
