POWER RESTORED TO ALMOST 5,000 CUSTOMERS IN BLOUNT COUNTY AFTER TUESDAY MORNING STORMS
Power was restored to thousands of customers in Blount County, Tennessee, on Tuesday morning following widespread outages caused by thunderstorms sweeping through East Tennessee. According to the City of Alcoa, the number of affected customers dropped sharply from 4,897 at 6:18 a.m. to just 42 by 7 a.m. The City of Maryville Electric Department also reported an additional 565 customers without power earlier in the morning, though service was quickly restored there as well.
Similar improvements were seen in other areas. The Knoxville Utilities Board had nearly 1,400 customers without power earlier, but that figure fell to just over 100 by 7:50 a.m. In Fentress County, Volunteer Energy Cooperative reported around 1,500 customers affected as of 7:55 a.m., with power mostly restored by 9 a.m.
