A multi-vehicle crash and subsequent congestion are currently impacting travel on Interstate 40 in Roane County this afternoon. As of 4:01 PM ET, a collision near mile marker 359 has blocked the left lane and left shoulder of the westbound side.

This incident, combined with heavy Friday afternoon traffic, has led to significant congestion stretching back to mile marker 362 westbound and mile marker 356.4 eastbound.

While no lanes are currently blocked in these secondary congestion zones, motorists should expect delays and exercise caution when approaching the crash site near the 359-mile marker.
