MINNESOTA REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED IN CROSSVILLE FOR TENNESSEE REGISTRY VIOLATION

On May 1, 2026, Detective Tyrel Lorenz of the Crossville Police Department attempted to locate Robert Olson, a registered sex offender from Minnesota, at the Executive Inn in Crossville, Tennessee. Although Mr. Olson had been instructed on April 28 to register with local authorities by April 30, he failed to do so.

Motel staff confirmed his residency and provided records showing he had also previously stayed at the location from March 8 through April 19, 2026. During a visit to the motel room, Detective Lorenz spoke with Mr. Olson’s wife and subsequently spoke with Mr. Olson via telephone. During this call, Mr. Olson admitted to staying at the inn during both timeframes and initially claimed he had not notified Minnesota authorities of his travel, though Minnesota officials later clarified that they had been informed of his trip.

Following the investigation, Detective Lorenz obtained a warrant for Mr. Olson’s arrest as he failed to report to the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry within the required 48-hour window. At approximately 11:15 AM, Mr. Olson was taken into custody at the Crossville Police Department and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The facility’s registry coordinator was notified of his status and custody.
