UTZ ISSUES RECALL ON ZAPP’S BRAND POTATO CHIPS FOR POSSIBLE SALMONELLA CONTAMINATION

Utz Quality Foods, LLC has initiated a voluntary recall for specific batches of Zapp’s and Dirty brand potato chips due to a potential Salmonella contamination in a seasoning ingredient sourced from California Dairies, Inc. While the seasoning tested negative for the bacteria prior to production, the company is acting out of an abundance of caution following a recall by their ingredient supplier. Although no illnesses have been reported to date, Salmonella poses a significant health risk, particularly to young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, often causing symptoms such as fever, nausea, and abdominal pain.

The recall is strictly limited to specific varieties including Bayou Blackened Ranch, Salt and Vinegar, Maui Onion, Big Cheezy, and Sour Cream and Onion with “Best By” dates ranging from July to August 2026. Consumers are urged not to consume these products and should discard them immediately. For refunds or further inquiries, customers can contact Utz Customer Care at 1-877-423-0149 or via email. This action is being conducted in coordination with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to ensure all affected items are removed from retail shelves nationwide.
