CUMBERLAND DEPUTIES RESPOND TO REPORT OF OVER $6,000 IN DAMAGE DONE TO BEN LOMAND INTERNET CABLES
On May 5, 2026, Deputy K-9 Joshua Matthews of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of felony vandalism at River Watch Drive in Crab Orchard. Upon arrival at approximately 4:04 PM, Deputy Matthews met with Dakota Gunter, an employee of Ben Lomand Internet, who discovered that the company’s internet cables had been intentionally cut. The damage is estimated at $6,000.
According to the narrative, Gunter spoke with an unidentified male associated with Classic Module Home. The individual reportedly admitted to cutting the lines because they were hanging too low and obstructed a crane’s access to the lot. While the suspect provided a contact number, he did not disclose his name or further identifying information.
At the time of the report, the complainant requested documentation of the incident but remained uncertain whether the company intended to pursue formal charges.
