51-YEAR-OLD MAN INJURED AFTER SUV SPINS OUT AND SLAMS INTO TREE ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
According to a preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, on May 6, 2026, at approximately 8:00 AM, a single-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 40 East at mile marker 333.8 in Cumberland County.
Jeremy S. Gray, a 51-year-old Tennessee resident driving a 2009 Saturn Vue, was traveling eastbound while negotiating a slight downhill left curve when the vehicle spun counter-clockwise in the travel lanes. It then left the roadway off the right shoulder, slid sideways down the grass median into the tree line, and struck a large standing tree with the left driver’s door.
The vehicle rotated clockwise around the tree before coming to rest.
Gray was wearing a seat belt and sustained injuries. No other vehicles or passengers were involved.
