Madie Gallaher, 92
Madie Gallaher, age 92, of Kingston, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Monday, May 11, 2026, at Jamestowne Assisted Living surrounded by her family. She was born August 3, 1933, in her family’s old home place on Lawnville Road and lived nearby until her passing.
Madie graduated salutatorian from Roane County High School in 1952 and later, graduated Draughn’s Business College before working at Union Carbide for over 30 years. She was a member of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. In earlier years, Madie enjoyed cooking and quilting. She made the best fried apple pies. She enjoyed doing word puzzles and playing bingo. She loved her family dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gallaher. Parents H.H. and Maude Galyon. Sisters Addie White, Madge Galyon, and Ethel Smith.
She is survived by son Calvin Gallaher of Decatur, TN, and son Roger Gallaher and wife Jessica Gallaher of Kingston, TN. Granddaughter Rebekah Gallaher Walker and husband Nate Walker of Louisiana. Grandsons Michael Gallaher of Decatur, TN, and Elijah Gallaher of Kingston, TN. Great-grandsons Max and Caleb Walker of Louisiana. Jacob Gallaher and family of Knoxville, TN, a special part of her family. She was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. She was loved and will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston from 12-1 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. At 1 PM, Rev. Ronnie Nickell will lead a memorial service. Burial will follow at Lawnville Cemetery. Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston is serving the Gallaher Family.
