SUBARU DRIVER INJURED AFTER FAILING TO YIELD TO DUMP TRUCK ON US 70 IN CRAB ORCHARD
According to a preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, On May 12, 2026, at approximately 4:11 PM, a collision occurred at the intersection of US 70 East and Market Street in Cumberland County. A 2017 Subaru Forester (Vehicle 1), driven by 26-year-old Mackenzie Simpson of Tennessee, was traveling north on Market Street. Simpson failed to yield and pulled across US 70 East directly into the path of a 2005 Kenworth T80 dump truck (Vehicle 2) traveling westbound.
The dump truck, driven by 62-year-old Steven Hardiman of Tennessee, struck the right front of the Subaru. Both vehicles came to rest in the westbound lane of US 70 East, with the Subaru facing northwest.
Simpson was wearing a seat belt and sustained injuries, while Hardiman was also belted and uninjured.
Simpson was cited for Failure to Yield; no charges were issued to Hardiman.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
