CONVICTED FELON FACES VANDALISM, EVADING ARREST, AND MULTIPLE WEAPON CHARGES IN CUMBERLAND COURT TODAY

Peter James McChesney of Rock Island, TN, is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court today on multiple criminal charges. He is represented by the Public Defender.

The charges stem from two separate incidents. On May 13, 2025, McChesney was accused of vandalism after allegedly breaking his ex-girlfriend’s window at a residence on Dayton Avenue in Crossville during a verbal domestic dispute.

On June 19, 2025, officers responded to East Adams Street in Crossville after spotting McChesney (who had an active vandalism warrant plus other warrants) attempting to enter the residence. He allegedly evaded arrest by running inside and locking the door, leading to a standoff involving multiple units and SWAT.

After negotiations and deployment of CS gas, he surrendered. During the related investigation and search of a black 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, officers found a silver Smith & Wesson .38 special, a Glock 33, and shotgun shells. As a convicted felon, McChesney faces two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, plus charges for evading arrest and resisting stop/arrest/search.
