ROANE COUNTY SHERIFF WARNS OF US MARSHAL IMPERSONATION SCAM
The Roane County Sheriff’s Office has issued a scam alert warning residents about fraudulent calls from individuals impersonating the US Marshal Service.
The scammers claim that the victim’s driver’s license and personal information have surfaced during a drug investigation and instruct them to prepay a bond using a Bitcoin machine in Knoxville.
This is a confirmed scam.
Authorities advise residents not to provide any personal information to these callers and to simply hang up immediately.
