ROCKWOOD WOMAN UNHURT AFTER PASSING OUT AND DRIVING OFF HIGHWAY 27 EMBANKMENT
On Saturday evening just after 7 p.m. during a rain shower, emergency crews from the Rockwood Police Department, Rockwood Fire Department, and ambulance services responded to a single-vehicle accident on North Gateway Avenue near the industrial park entrance in Rockwood.
A 2017 Nissan Altima driven by 40-year-old Danielle Elizabeth Bryson of Harriman veered off the southbound lanes of Highway 27, ran down an embankment, and came to rest about 20 feet below in a wooded area. Firefighters used high-angle rescue equipment to safely extract Bryson, who reported passing out as the cause of the crash.
She sustained no serious injuries.
Southbound lanes of Highway 27 were temporarily closed while a tow truck recovered the vehicle. According to local law enforcement, the rest of the Memorial Day weekend was relatively quiet aside from routine medical-related ambulance calls.
