MONTEREY POLICE RESPOND TO BURGLARY AT FORMER PERDUE FACILITY
At 7:15 AM on Monday, June 1st, the Monterey Police Department responded to a burglary report at the former Perdue facility. Upon arrival, officers spoke with two employees who reported several items missing and noted they had spotted a suspect inside the building who was never seen leaving.
Officers subsequently cleared the massive 340,000-square-foot facility, discovering various items piled up by the exit doors. Following the search, an investigation was launched; by inventorying the missing items and photographing the scene, police identified Robert Wayne Phillips as a suspect. Shortly after leaving the facility, a patrolling officer spotted an individual matching Phillips’ description near E. Lou’s Ave and Standing Stone Dr. Phillips was brought to the Monterey Police Department for an interview, during which he confessed to the burglary and theft and disclosed the location of the stolen goods.
Officers successfully recovered the property from the specified residence, and Phillips was arrested and booked into the Putnam County Jail on charges of Burglary, Theft of Property, and Vandalism, with his bond set at $87,500.00.
