MAN TO APPEAR IN CUMBERLAND CRIMINAL COURT ON BURGLARY AND FELONY CHARGES

Robert Scott Witten Jr. is appearing in Cumberland County Criminal Court today on charges stemming from incidents in late August and early September 2025. According to the arrest warrants and grand jury indictments filed on February 3, 2026, Witten was arrested on September 3, 2025, by Deputy Caleb Charles after being found in possession of a black duffel bag containing two firearms—a Taurus G3C 9mm and a Smith & Wesson .380. Because Witten was previously convicted of felony robbery in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, in 2015, his possession of these firearms resulted in two counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon.

During his subsequent interview with law enforcement, Witten confessed to and signed statements admitting to multiple vehicle burglaries. This included breaking into a black Hyundai Palisade on August 27, 2025, from which he stole the aforementioned Smith & Wesson .380 pistol. He also admitted to a September 1, 2025, vehicle burglary on East Street, where he stole two wallets containing identification, social security, and bank cards. Furthermore, Witten confessed to using a stolen Regions Bank debit card to withdraw unauthorized cash from a One Bank ATM in Fairfield Glade.

In total, the grand jury returned a 9-count indictment covering burglary, theft of property under $1,000, fraudulent use of a credit card, and felonious weapon possession.

For his June 2, 2026, “Deadline” hearing in the Cumberland County Circuit Court, Witten is represented by attorney Jeff Vires, with his bond currently set at $70,000.
