KINGSTON CITY COUNCIL TO MEET TONIGHT AT 6 P.M.
The Kingston City Council will hold its monthly work session tonight at 6:00 p.m. at Kingston City Hall. This follows the cancellation of the May meeting due to a lack of quorum. Immediately after the work session, the council will convene a special-called budget workshop to discuss the upcoming fiscal year budget.
The agenda opens with citizen comments and includes a presentation of the 30 percent design report for the planned expansion of the city’s water treatment plant. Council members will consider authorizing $47,490 for controllers and related equipment for water tanks and pump stations, review the proposed city budget, and conduct annual reviews of the property tax rate and water rates. Additional items include appointments to two vacant seats on the Parks and Recreation Board, authorization for the mayor to enter a lease agreement with American Cruise Lines for docking access at City Park, approval of the annual dispatch services agreement with the Roane County 911 center, and an interlocal cooperation agreement with Roane County for comprehensive municipal services. The final item is a proposed policy change regarding appearance standards for police officers and city court personnel.
