DETAILS ON JACKKNIFED TRUCK INCIDENT IN ROANE COUNTY
A three-vehicle accident involving a deer and a tractor-trailer temporarily shut down eastbound Interstate 40 near the Lawnville Road Exit (Exit 355) in Roane County just after 9:00 a.m. this morning. The crash was initiated when a car struck a deer in the roadway, which caused an oncoming tractor-trailer to jackknife as the driver attempted to avoid the collision.
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, and responders from the Kingston Fire Department and other emergency agencies quickly arrived to assist and restore the flow of traffic. Although the interstate remained congested until the jackknifed truck was straightened and towed away, drivers faced further delays due to a separate wide-load transport breakdown near the Gallaher Road exit.
