4TH DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES APPROVED AT SPECIAL CALLED ELECTION COMMISSION MEETING
The Cumberland County Election Commission held a Special Called Meeting on June 12, 2026, at 12:00 noon. The primary purpose of this meeting was to review and officially approve the independent candidate petitions for the vacancy in the 4th District School Board.
During the session, the commission reviewed the credentials for two candidates competing for the open 4th District seat. Nicky Philpot was approved as the official Republican candidate, while James Stephens was approved as the Independent candidate. With the commission’s official stamp of approval, both individuals are now formally cleared to appear on the ballot for the upcoming election this August.
Following the conclusion of this special meeting, the commission announced that its next regularly scheduled meeting will take place on July 7th. A key agenda item for that upcoming July session will be the official certification of the voting machines to ensure everything is secure and ready for the voting public.
