FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE MASSIVE BLAZE THAT DESTROYED PUTNAM COUNTY HOME
A single-story home on Oakdale Circle is a total loss after a massive fire tore through the structure Wednesday afternoon, drawing a massive response from multiple local emergency agencies.
The Putnam County Fire Department was dispatched to the residence at approximately 2:30 p.m. on June 24. Upon arriving at the scene, crews encountered heavy flames pouring from the basement, which quickly spread upward into the home’s main living area and attic.
Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack on both levels to bring the raging flames under control. Due to the size and complexity of the blaze, additional manpower was urgently requested. Crews from the Cookeville Fire Department and Jackson County District 6 fire departments rushed to the scene to assist.
Officials report that the home suffered catastrophic damage and is considered a total loss. While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, investigators have confirmed that the blaze originated in the basement.
One person was evaluated at the scene by Putnam County EMS but refused medical transport. No other injuries were reported.
Emergency personnel remained on the scene for approximately five and a half hours to conduct suppression, overhaul, and salvage operations.
Following the incident, the Putnam County Fire Department extended its gratitude to the Cookeville Fire Department, Jackson County District 6 fire departments, Putnam County Rescue Squad, and Putnam County EMS for their crucial assistance in battling the blaze.
