USDA ISSUES PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT FOR KROGER AND FRED MEYER CHICKEN BREASTS OVER UNDECLARED ALLERGENS
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for a specific batch of raw boneless chicken breast products sold at Kroger and Fred Meyer stores. The product contains eggs, a known allergen that is not declared on the label.
Because the affected items are no longer available for purchase, a formal recall was not requested. However, officials are concerned that the product may still be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers.
The public health alert applies to the following product produced on June 2, 2026:
-
Product Name: PRIVATE SELECTION Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Rib Meat (21-oz. vacuum-packed packages)
-
Best If Used By Date: JUN 28 2026
-
Lot Code: 15326A
-
Establishment Number: P-45288B
Distribution: These items were shipped to retail stores in Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon, and Washington.
The misbranding was discovered by a retailer after a store employee noticed a labeling error: the correct label was affixed to the front of the packaging, but an incorrect ingredients label was applied to the back. The producing establishment, FW Farms LLC, subsequently notified FSIS.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
FSIS strongly urges consumers who have purchased these products not to consume them. The items should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Anyone concerned about an allergic reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
