HEAT BUILDS THROUGH THE WEEK WITH ONLY ISOLATED STORM CHANCES

Regional Forecast — Cumberland Plateau & Tennessee Valley

A prolonged stretch of hot summer weather will continue through the workweek. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the 90s each day, with heat index values approaching or exceeding 100 degrees, especially across the Tennessee Valley. Only isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected beginning Wednesday.

Monday: Mostly sunny and hot. Patchy morning fog is possible on the Cumberland Plateau. Highs around 88 on the Plateau and 92 in the Tennessee Valley. Heat index values up to 105 degrees in the Valley.

Monday Night: Mostly clear with patchy fog possible late across the Plateau. Lows around 71 on the Plateau and 73 in the Valley.

Tuesday: Sunny and very hot. Highs around 91 on the Plateau and 94 in the Valley. Heat index values as high as 99 degrees on the Plateau and 107 degrees in the Valley.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear and warm. Lows around 73 on the Plateau and 75 in the Valley.

Wednesday: Sunny and hot with an isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm possible. Highs around 91 on the Plateau and 95 in the Valley. Chance of rain around 20 percent.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear. Lows around 73 on the Plateau and 74 in the Valley.

Thursday: Sunny and hot with a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. Highs around 93 on the Plateau and 96 in the Valley. Chance of rain 20 to 30 percent.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear with a slight chance of an evening shower or thunderstorm. Lows around 72 on the Plateau and 74 in the Valley. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Friday: Sunny and hot with isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible. Highs around 92 on the Plateau and 95 in the Valley. Chance of rain 20 to 30 percent.
