Rev. Paul Mitchell, 77
Rev. Paul Mitchell 77, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee passed away at his home Wednesday, July 1, 2026. He was born July 20, 1948 to the late Carl and Effie Lee Lewis Mitchell in McMinn County. He was a graduate of Meigs County High school and Tennessee Tech achieving a B. S. degree. Paul was minister and a plant supervisor for Pilgrim’s Pride. He pastored at Mt Zion Baptist Church for 9 years, resigning in January of 2026, and at High Point Baptist Church for 5 years. Paul enjoyed square dancing, liked to fish, and loved Bible studies. He was a former member of the Elks Club. He was the youngest of 9 children.
Paul is also preceded in death by his brothers; Leroy, Clyde, Claude, and Carl Mitchell and his sisters Margaret Branon, Jeanette Rattledge, Maxine Thurman,and Pauline Powell.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dora True Mitchell of Soddy Daisy, his son Adam (Carrie) Mitchell of Dayton, Tennessee and his 2 grandchildren Tara and Connor Mitchell.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 6, 2026 at 2PM in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. David Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in the Sewee Cemetery in McMinn County. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 5, 2026 from 4 to 6PM at Vaughn Funeral Home.
