RHEA COUNTY MOURNS PASSING OF 100-YEAR-OLD RUTH CRANE
The Rhea County Sheriff’s Department is mourning the loss of Mrs. Ruth Crane, a beloved local resident and centenarian who passed away recently after a century of dedicated service to her family and community.
Sheriff Mike Neal, Chief Deputy John Argo, and the entire department extended their heartfelt condolences to the Crane and Tumlin families, remembering Ruth and her late husband, Virgil—a World War II veteran who passed away 10 years ago—as two of Sheriff Neal’s most steadfast supporters.
Throughout her 100 years, Mrs. Crane was a vital part of the Rhea County community. Prior to devoting her life to being a homemaker, she worked at FB Bank and served as the bookkeeper for Rhea Central Elementary School.
“We have missed Virgil for the last 10 years and will miss seeing Ruth at all of our events,” the Sheriff’s Department expressed in a statement. “We are thankful for the time we got to spend with the Cranes. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ruth’s family.”
