CROSSVILLE MAN FACES HEAVY FELONY CHARGES FOLLOWING BURGLARY AND DOMESTIC INCIDENTS
A local man is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County Circuit Court on July 14, 2026, to face a list of serious criminal charges steming from a series of late 2025 incidents involving domestic assault, home invasion, and heavy property theft.
According to court dockets and affidavits of complaint, Brandon Kevin Stepp faces charges including aggravated burglary (in concert with two or more persons), theft of property valued between $10,000 and $60,000, unlawful weapon possession by a convicted felon, and violation of conditional release. A court deadline hearing has been set with bond placed at $100,000.
The charges against Stepp follow two separate investigations by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office:
-
October 25, 2025 (Domestic Assault): Deputy Ben Broderdorf responded to a disturbance on McCampbell Road. An ex-girlfriend reported that Stepp forced his way into her residence following a verbal argument, threatened her, kicked holes in her bedroom wall, and damaged property.
-
November 3, 2025 (Burglary & Felon in Possession of a Weapon): Deputy Blake Richardson investigated a residential break-in on Creston Road where homeowners reported roughly $25,000 worth of stolen items, including handguns, rifles, ammunition, jewelry, and electronics.
Following up on information regarding the stolen property, law enforcement conducted a consensual search at the McCampbell Road property. Witnesses linked Stepp and two accomplices to the missing items, which officers discovered hidden across the property in sheds, on the porch, under the house, and in the yard.
Deputies ultimately discovered Stepp hiding beneath the residence. In addition to being a convicted felon in possession of firearms, Stepp was found to be in violation of active court-ordered bond conditions prohibiting contact with the resident.
Representing the defendant is attorney Patrick Hayes as the case proceeds through the Cumberland County court system.
