ROBERT GARAY FACES MOUNTAIN OF CHARGES SPANNING KIDNAPPING, WEAPONS, AND MAJOR METH TRAFFICKING

A Crossville man is facing an extensive list of severe criminal charges in Cumberland County Circuit Court following a series of law enforcement actions, search warrants, and traffic stops that uncovered large-scale drug trafficking, illegal firearms, kidnapping, and violent crimes.

Court documents and affidavits of complaint detail a sprawling web of offenses allegedly committed by Robert Aguilar Garay, represented by attorney Kevin R. Bryant.

Multiple Felony Indictments and High-Stakes Court Appearances

According to court dockets from July 14, 2026, Garay is defending against a total of eight separate cases in Circuit Court, with total bond amounts exceeding $2.7 million:

  • Violent Crimes & Kidnapping: Garay faces multiple counts of Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, Robbery, Burglary, Aggravated Assault, and Theft under $1,000.

  • Weapon Charges: A convicted felon, Garay has been repeatedly charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.

  • Large-Scale Narcotics: Multiple indictments allege the manufacturing, delivery, sale, or possession of methamphetamine, including charges involving over 300 grams and over 26 grams of the substance.

While most of Garay’s cases appeared for court report dates, one case—which includes charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and felonious weapon possession—was listed for a formal Trial Date.

Detailed Investigation and Warrant Executions

Sworn affidavits of complaint filed by local law enforcement outline the events leading up to Garay’s grand jury indictments:

Aug. 20, 2024: Over Two Pounds of Meth Seized

Investigator Lucas Turner located Garay in a commercial parking lot at 187 Peavine Road in Crossville in possession of approximately 2 pounds, 2 ounces of suspected methamphetamine. A field test using an MX 908 device confirmed the presence of meth.

Aug. 31, 2024: Apartment Search and Drug Ledger Clues

Sgt. Keith Sadula responded to a residence on US 127 regarding stolen property. After entering, officers observed Garay exiting a bathroom. A consent search yielded a sunglass case containing approximately 87.67 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a large digital scale in a box, alongside a duffel bag containing a prescription bottle bearing Garay’s name.

Sept. 12, 2024: Traffic Stop & K-9 Alert

Sgt. Dustin Jackson initiated a traffic stop on Garay’s red Ford F-150 on Highway 70 North for following too closely. Knowing Garay had active warrants, officers brought in a Crossville Police K-9 unit, which alerted to the vehicle. A search revealed 19.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine in a Ziploc bag.

Sept. 13, 2024: Raid Uncovers AR-15, Body Armor, and Garage Stash

Deputies executed search warrants at Garay’s residence at 320 Flat Rock Place. Inside his bedroom, law enforcement recovered:

  • A loaded Smith & Wesson AR-style rifle leaning beside the bed

  • A ballistic vest, loaded 30-round AR magazines, and abundant .223 and 9mm ammunition

  • A drug ledger detailing narcotics transactions

  • Half an ounce of suspected methamphetamine

Outside, deputies found a loaded Taurus 9mm pistol in Garay’s Nissan Altima, while a search of a detached garage yielded 2 ounces of methamphetamine, a pound of marijuana, packaging materials, and scales hidden inside a toolbox near mail addressed to Garay.
