BICYCLIST REPORTEDLY THREATENED WITH AR-15 IN CROSSVILLE; POLICE INVESTIGATE TENSION BETWEEN LOCAL MEN

The Crossville Police Department is investigating a harrowing incident after a local bicyclist reported having an AR-15 style rifle pointed at him from a passing vehicle late last month.

According to police reports released this week, the incident occurred on the evening of June 30, 2026, marking the latest escalation in an ongoing dispute between two local residents.

At approximately 10:12 PM, officers responded to an assault call on North Main Street. The victim reported that he was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk along Industrial Boulevard when a blue Subaru hatchback drove past.

According to the victim:

  • The vehicle was driven by a man accompanied by two unidentified male passengers.

  • An unknown male in the rear right passenger seat pointed a black, unmodified AR-15 style rifle (lacking a scope, handgrip, or other attachments) out of the window directly at him.

  • The vehicle then fled the scene toward Genesis Road.

The witness told officers he easily recognized the suspect because the suspect had driven past his home just a week prior, on June 23, and threatened to “smoke him.” That previous encounter had prompted police to establish extra patrols around the victim’s residence.

When contacted by officers, the suspect denied any involvement in the incident or having any contact with the victim that night. Instead, he presented a high-tech alibi to police:

The Suspect’s Alibi: The suspect claimed he had been home all night. To prove this, he offered data from his Life360 tracking app and noted that his phone is constantly connected via Bluetooth to his continuous blood sugar monitor. He argued that if he had left his phone behind to go drive, the connection would have severed, logging the disconnect.

Additionally, the suspect claimed that the blue Subaru—which dispatch confirmed is registered to a female associate—had been parked in his yard and unmoved for days.

However, police noted that the city’s Flock safety camera system successfully captured and matched the Subaru’s license plate in the area around the time of the reported assault.

While investigating, officers uncovered photos on the suspect’s public Instagram account that heavily complicate his defense.

The photos show:

  • The suspect posing inside a home holding a black, unmodified AR-15 style rifle matching the exact description provided by the victim.

  • An unidentified, heavy-set white male with distinctive tattoos on both forearms and his left hand holding the exact same rifle.

Current Status of the Investigation

At this time, no video surveillance has been retrieved from nearby businesses, and the other two male occupants of the vehicle remain unidentified.

While the victim has expressed a strong desire to press charges against the individual who pointed the firearm at him, no formal charges have been filed as the Crossville Police Department continues its investigation.

Since charges have yet to be filed, the suspect will remain unnamed.
