Authorities in Cumberland County are investigating a case of recurring credit card fraud after a local resident discovered someone had been using her account to secretly order fast food for months.

According to an incident report from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, a 43-year-old woman visited the Lake Tansi Police Department office on Cravens Drive on Monday afternoon, July 27, to report the ongoing fraudulent activity.

She told Officer Jeremy Dara that an unknown suspect had been repeatedly placing orders from McDonald’s using the DoorDash delivery app linked to her financial accounts. Although the unauthorized charges had been occurring since January 2026, the victim stated she only recently noticed the pattern.

In July alone, the suspect racked up $147 in fraudulent charges.

She informed officers that she is unsure who could have obtained access to her payment information. She has since been issued new cards from her financial institutions, Chime and Direct Express, to prevent further unauthorized orders.

The case remains under investigation, and no suspect has been identified at this time.
