Emergency crews and law enforcement officers are currently on the scene of an active barricade situation at a local motel in Roane County.

The Roane County Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday morning to the Super 8 motel, located at 905 N. Kentucky St. near Interstate 40, following reports of at least one barricaded suspect inside. A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office confirmed the nature of the standoff to reporters on-scene.

Multiple emergency response agencies, including the City of Kingston Fire Department, have staged in the area to assist. As of 10:45 a.m., law enforcement operations remain active, and drivers are advised to expect a heavy police presence near the I-40 exit.
