The fusion-energy sector received a major boost in East Tennessee as Kyoto Fusioneering announced plans to relocate its United States headquarters to Anderson County alongside a $46.9 million investment.

The expansion project is projected to create 51 new high-tech jobs in the region.

At the heart of the investment is UNITY-3, a specialized fusion nuclear test facility being developed in direct partnership with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Once operational, the facility will deliver critical testing capabilities for companies racing to develop the technologies required for future commercial fusion-energy systems.

Kyoto Fusioneering, originally founded in Japan, operates internationally as a prominent player in the rapidly growing global fusion-energy industry.
