Martha “Cookie” Smith, 73
Martha “Cookie” Smith, age 73, died Saturday, August 15, 2026 at her home. Cookie was born on August 13, 1953 in Framingham Massachusetts, to the late Charles “Hubie” Moran and Marion Bliss Moran.
Cookie was a very talented cake decorator and was deli manager at Ingles, Red Food and Piggly Wiggly. She was also an ophthalmologist technician. People knew they could count on her to do an outstanding job and the food would be delicious. After funerals, families would come back from the service and have a hot, delicious meal waiting for them. She absolutely loved feeding people. Over the last several years Cookie devoted herself to taking care of her husband Smitty. She was always there for him and fulfilled her vows till death do us part. She adored her grandchildren and they were the light of her eyes.
Cookie and her husband Spencer “Smitty” Smith moved to this area in 1974 and made their home in Spring City. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, Cookie is preceded in death by her beloved husband; Spencer “Smitty” Smith in June of this year, brother; John (Skippy) Moran, and sister Maureen Keay.
