A destructive early morning fire heavily damaged multiple school buses at the Lenoir City Schools transportation annex on Tuesday, September 1st, prompting the district to cancel classes for the day.

The Lenoir City Fire Department responded to the blaze at approximately 1:30 a.m. and brought the active fire under control within 20 minutes with assistance from mutual aid partners. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

• Impact on Students: Lenoir City Schools are closed for the day, along with the cancellation of all before and after-school activities. County schools remain on a normal schedule.
