Despite a relatively quiet weekend for major crimes across Roane County, local emergency services responded to a series of notable traffic accidents.

The weekend’s most severe incidents began Friday afternoon on Pump House Road near the RV park entrance, where an 11-year-old boy was injured in a bicycle accident and airlifted from the scene by a LifeStar helicopter. The Rockwood Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash and has not yet released details on the child’s current condition.

On Sunday afternoon, a motorcycle crash on Lawnville Road just outside Kingston left the rider with serious injuries. Emergency responders transported the victim to a Knoxville hospital, with the Tennessee Highway Patrol slated to handle the investigation.

An additional wreck occurred Monday at approximately 9:00 PM just west of Interstate 40’s Exit 347 near Harriman and Rockwood. The two-vehicle collision did not appear to cause injuries, though the Harriman Fire Department responded to provide standby medical assistance.

While multiple other minor crashes were reported on regional roadways and the interstate system throughout the weekend, authorities have confirmed zero fatalities resulting from the incidents. Local law enforcement and the Tennessee Highway Patrol continue to investigate the weekend’s primary crashes.
