ROCKWOOD POLICE RELEASE REPORT ON HIGH-SPEED CRASH NEAR WALMART SHOPPING CENTER
A high-speed collision involving a 2017 Subaru Outback and a semi-truck temporarily blocked southbound traffic near the Gateway Avenue Walmart entrance last Thursday. According to the Rockwood Police Department report, the Subaru, driven by 28-year-old Taylor Kelly of Harriman, was traveling southbound near Tyler Point Road when it struck the semi-trailer while attempting a lane change.
The impact sent the Subaru airborne before it came to rest in the left-hand lane of Gateway Avenue. Kelly reported a possible broken wrist and was transported via private vehicle to a local hospital. The semi-truck driver, 37-year-old Wiley Harper of Harrison, Tennessee, sustained no injuries.
Emergency responders from the Rockwood Fire and Police departments managed traffic control at the scene, which was cleared and reopened within 40 minutes. Kelly was issued a citation for driving without insurance.
