A rainy afternoon commute on September 18, 2026, resulted in a two-vehicle rear-end collision on South Main Street (US-127), according to the Crossville Police Department.

The incident took place at approximately 5:17 PM during a heavy rain shower, leaving roadway surfaces wet and slippery. According to investigating officer Lt. Dustin Lester, a 2013 Ford utility vehicle driven by 21-year-old Kaitlyn Makenzie Hale of Crossville was traveling southbound behind a 2021 Kia utility vehicle operated by Katelyn Jane Patterson.

Authorities reported that the Kia was moving slowly with traffic when the Ford failed to stop in time, striking the rear of the Kia. The impact caused functional damage to the front end of the Ford and the rear of the Kia.

While the driver of the Kia and a 3-year-old passenger were uninjured, the driver of the Ford sustained a possible injury and was transported to the hospital by ground EMS.

Neither driver was suspected of impairment, and no citations or traffic violations were listed on the report.
