Scammers are currently using automated phone calls falsely claiming to originate from the Department. State officials emphasize that this is entirely a scam and remind the public that the department will never request money through automated phone calls.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant, hang up immediately if they receive one of these calls, and avoid sharing any financial or personal information.
