CUMBERLAND COUNTY LEADERS HONOR LOCAL STUDENT-ATHLETES FOR WORLD BOWHUNTING SUCCESS
During last night’s County Commission meeting, Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster formally recognized a talented group of student archers for their impressive performances at the 2026 International Bowhunting Organization World Championship.
The prestigious tournament took place from August 4 to August 9 at Canaan Valley Resort State Park in Davis, West Virginia. Unlike standard indoor or outdoor ranges, the competitors faced demanding 3D courses set deep within the woods. Participants had to accurately judge unknown distances, navigate tricky target placements, and maintain composure under high-pressure conditions.
Mayor Foster praised the students not only for their athletic talent and discipline, but also for their exemplary sportsmanship and representation of the community. He also expressed gratitude to the parents, coaches, and school staff whose dedication and logistical support made the journey possible.
