LUTHER EUGENE BOLES SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS FOR FELON IN POSSESSION OF FIREARMS
A Cumberland County man has been sentenced to four years in the Tennessee Department of Correction after pleading guilty to charges of possessing firearms as a convicted felon.
Luther Eugene Boles, represented by defense attorney Laura Dykes, appeared in the Criminal Court for Cumberland County on September 15, 2026. Boles entered a guilty plea to possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, waiving his right to a grand jury indictment in favor of prosecution by information.
According to court documents, law enforcement discovered firearms in Boles’s possession on September 6, 2026, in Cumberland County. The seized contraband included a Beretta 92FS 9mm handgun and a brown Glenfield Model 60 .22-caliber rifle with a cut-off stock.
Under Tennessee law, possessing the firearms was prohibited due to Boles’s prior 2017 conviction for the sale of methamphetamine in the same court.
Judge presiding over the case accepted Boles’s guilty plea and waiver of rights, sentencing him to four years in state custody. Court records indicate he must serve the sentence at 85% eligibility for early release, and all seized items, including the firearms, have been forfeited to the state.
