TEVON MCMURRY FACES AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND EVADING ARREST CHARGES FOLLOWING DOMESTIC INCIDENT
A local man is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court on October 8, 2026, following his arrest on charges of aggravated assault and evading arrest.
Tevon Asante McMurry faces the charges stemming from an early morning incident on April 29, 2026. According to court documents filed by Patrolman Jacob Ogle, officers responded to a reported physical domestic disturbance at E. First Street at approximately 2:15 AM.
The victim reported that McMurry struck her and used her hoodie collar to cut off her air supply before fleeing on foot when she dialed 911. Responding officers observed visible injuries, noting blood on the victim’s face and mouth, alongside visible marks on the left side of her face.
Following a search, a K-9 unit deployed by Sgt. Massey located McMurry hiding in a nearby patch of woods. Authorities reported that McMurry was highly intoxicated at the time, having consumed alcohol and marijuana prior to the altercation.
Patrolman Ogle placed McMurry under arrest, and Master Patrolman Freeman transported him to the Cumberland County Jail without further incident. He is slated to answer to the docket charges of aggravated assault and evading arrest.
