JUSTIN DYKES FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES INCLUDING DUIS, WEAPONS VIOLATIONS, AND ACCIDENT EVASION
A Crossville man is facing a string of criminal charges in Cumberland County General Sessions Court tomorrow following multiple arrests spanning from late 2025 through mid-2026.
Court records show that Justin Ryan Dykes has accumulated numerous charges across several separate incidents involving driving under the influence, drug possession, weapons violations, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Key Incidents Outlined in Court Records:
-
September 27, 2025: Trooper Leo Auger responded to a Shell gas station parking lot off Peavine Road following reports of a man slumped over the driver’s side of a vehicle with the engine running. Authorities noted signs of impairment, and field sobriety tests were conducted.
-
December 20, 2025: Law enforcement responded to a Mr. Zip’s gas station regarding an individual reported to be overdosing and carrying a firearm. Officers recovered a pistol and discovered prescription pills—including hydrocodone, oxycodone, and alprazolam—along with a straw containing white powder residue. Dykes, identified as a convicted felon, admitted he was not permitted to carry a firearm.
-
June 3, 2026: City units responded to a vehicle crash on North Main Street involving a Chevrolet single-cab truck driven by Dykes. Officers reported signs of intoxication, and a search yielded prescription narcotics. Dykes also reportedly attempted to conceal pill tablets while in custody.
-
July 10, 2026: Deputies responded to Highland Lane after a vehicle crashed through approximately 20 feet of fencing and came to rest against a tree. The driver had left the scene before authorities arrived, but deputies later made contact with Dykes at a secondary location, where he was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and failing to file a written accident report.
In total, the docket reflects multiple counts of driving under the influence, simple possession/casual exchange, public intoxication, possession of a handgun while under the influence, possession of a weapon as a convicted felon, leaving the scene of an accident, and related traffic violations. His cases are being handled by attorney Howard Upchurch on earlier filings, with subsequent dockets listing self-representation.
