TENNESSEE REMINDS HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS OF FAST-APPROACHING TN PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE
State education officials are urging high school seniors across Tennessee to submit their applications for the TN Promise scholarship before the upcoming November 2, 2026 deadline.
The TN Promise program functions as a last-dollar scholarship, covering remaining tuition and mandatory fees after other financial aid sources—such as the Pell Grant, HOPE Scholarship, or Tennessee Student Assistance Award—are applied. Students can utilize the scholarship at state community colleges, Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCATs), and other qualifying institutions.
Key Details for Students:
-
Deadline: Monday, November 2, 2026, via the THEC Student Portal.
-
Requirements: Students need their name (as listed on their Social Security card), Social Security number, date of birth, and a personal email address to apply.
-
TN Direct Admissions: Submitting the TN Promise application also connects seniors to the expanded TN Direct Admissions initiative, which provides automatic admission offers and personalized financial aid estimates from 63 participating colleges and universities across the state.
-
Impact: Tennessee is the first state to pair proactive college admissions with customized financial aid estimates. Nearly 44,000 seniors in the Class of 2027 have already received letters from Governor Bill Lee, with thousands more expected post-deadline.
Students who receive a TN Direct Admissions letter have until June 1, 2027, to claim their spots at participating institutions. For more information or to apply, students can visit CollegeforTN.org.
