THREE VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON I-40 LEAVES FOUR INJURED
A three vehicle accident on Interstate 40 at the 280 mile marker in Putnam County yesterday afternoon (Friday, August 18, 2017) left four injured. Troopers say a total of 11 people were involved in the accident. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 1998 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 73-year-old George Hooks of Sunbright, Tennessee rear-ended a 2010 Lincoln driven by 52-year-old Tonya Lanier of Manchester, Connecticut. The impact sent the Lincoln into a 2000 Ford F-150 driven by 36-year-old Carl R. Kirby Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina. Lanier, along with a passenger in her vehicle, 53-year-old David Lanier was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Kirby, along with a passenger in his vehicle, 42-year-old Jennifer Kirby, were both also taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Hooks was cited by troopers for following improperly.
