TWO ARRESTED FOR STRING OF VEHICLE BURGLARIES

Two people have been charged in connection to vehicle burglaries in Loudon County. Officers say 20-year-old Callie Millsaps and 18-year-old Robert Benton, both from Athens, Tennessee, have been arrested for several counts of burglary of a motor vehicle and theft of property. Three juveniles that were with them are also being charged. An alert citizen called E-911 after observing several suspicious subjects entering vehicles around the Dairy Lane area around 4:00 am on Sunday morning (November 5, 2017) lead to Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies stopping a vehicle matching the detailed description given by the caller. Deputies detained five subjects matching the given description. During the traffic stop deputies observed a handgun, iPads, wallets, cell phones, and other items that are commonly taken during vehicle burglaries. Deputies also located a wallet thrown from the suspect vehicle just prior to the traffic stop and determined it was also stolen from a vehicle on Dairy Lane. While conducting the initial investigation, Deputies received several more reports of vehicle burglaries around the Dairy Lane, Cedar Circle, and Tellico Village areas. Investigators were able to tie the suspects to vehicle burglaries in the reported areas as well as to a stolen vehicle from the Tellico Village area. At this time the sheriff’s office has been able to recover almost all of the items taken during the vehicle burglaries. More charges are expected on the individuals involved.
