TOWING COMPANY OWNER ATTACKED AFTER RESPONDING TO ACCIDENT

Yesterday, a towing company was dispatched to a location outside of Dandridge, Tennessee to work a minor single vehicle accident. David Brooks, owner of Supreme Towing, responded and loaded the car on his rollback and left the scene with the car’s owner as a passenger with him in the rollback. After traveling a short distance, the car owner, 33-year-old Grayson Woodside of North Carolina, decided on a location that he wanted to be dropped off at. Woodside then reportedly grabbed David’s head with one hand and stabbed him in the neck with a knife that he had produced in the other. Brooks managed to exit the rollback and Woodside drove off in it. Police made contact with the rollback and began pursuing it through Dandridge and then in to Sevier County on I-40 where the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Sevierville police units joined in. Woodside drove the stolen rollback across the median and proceeded westbound in the eastbound lanes until striking an eastbound car and coming to rest off the shoulder of the interstate. Woodside got out of the rollback and began to harm himself with a knife before being taken into custody and transported for medical treatment. Brooks was transported to U.T. Medical Center for medical care. The stab wound on Brooks required 14 stitches and a full recovery is expected. The reasoning for Woodside’s actions is unknown at this time and he faces several charges. (Photos courtesy of Jim Potts)
