ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 68 IN RHEA COUNTY RESULTS IN ONE FATALITY AND ONE INJURY
A vehicle accident in northern Rhea County yesterday resulted in one dead and one injured. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 1993 Toyota Tacoma driven by 30-year-old Carl W. Edwards of Grandview was traveling south on Highway 68 just north of Spring City when he crossed the center line and was hit head on by an oncoming 1998 International truck driven by 39-year-old Curtis J. Hennessee of Athens, Tennessee. Edwards was pronounced deceased at the scene. Hennessee was not injured. A passenger in Hennessee’s vehicle, 53-year-old Billy R. Crisp of Decatur, Tennessee was injured in the accident. Crisp was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
