AL-HAKEEM GARRISON FACES FELONY CHARGES OVER MULTI-COUNTY HIGH-SPEED CHASE FROM 2020

Al-Hakeem Ameer Garrison of Nashville is scheduled to appear in the Cumberland County General Sessions Court to address felony charges stemming from a high-speed police pursuit that crossed multiple Tennessee counties.

Incident Details

  • The Chase: Originally initiated by Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Jake Bramer, authorities attempted to stop Garrison’s white Kia on Interstate 40 in Cumberland County after clocking it at 91 mph in a 70 mph zone.
  • The Pursuit: Garrison fled law enforcement, reaching speeds between 100 and 125 mph and dangerously passing vehicles in the emergency breakdown lane. The pursuit extended into Putnam County, up Highway 111 North through Overton County, and ultimately concluded near the Kentucky state line in Static, Tennessee, after Garrison collided with a sheriff’s patrol vehicle. Multiple agencies, including the Livingston Police Department and the Pickett County Sheriff’s Department, assisted in the apprehension.
  • Charges: Garrison faces felony charges of Evading Arrest (Flight in a Vehicle) and Reckless Endangerment (Vehicle).

Court Proceedings

Though the incident took place in March 2020—at which time Garrison was 26 and a resident of St. Louis, Missouri—official service of the paperwork was delayed by several years for reasons that remain unknown. He is represented by the Public Defender’s office.
