Police in Alcoa are investigating what is being called a “suspicious death.” Officers were called to an apartment on Cherry St. shortly after 4:30 Friday afternoon to perform a welfare check. When they arrived on the scene, they discovered the body of a woman inside the apartment. At the time of this report, there was no word on the cause of death or the victim’s name.
