ALL CLEAR GIVEN AFTER ALERT ISSUED FOR TENNESSEE TECH CAMPUS

The Cookeville Police Department responded early last night to the area of 7th Street and N. Walnut Avenue near Tennessee Tech University about a firearm being discharged.

Upon arrival, officers found that a bullet had traveled through a window of a business nearby. Although the business was open at the time and there were customers and employees inside, no one was injured.

A person of interest was located by police at the Marc L. Burnett Student Recreation and Fitness Center. While the investigation is still active and ongoing, investigators were able to determine that the firearm was intentionally fired at the business as a result of a road rage incident.

With that information, 30-year-old Chaz Colton Miller of Cookeville was charged with 10 counts of reckless endangerment, a class C felony, and was being held on a $150,000 bond.

The Cookeville Police Department would like to thank the Tennessee Tech University Police Department for their quick response in alerting students of the situation due to the proximity to campus as well as for their assistance with locating the person of interest.

Officers ask anyone who may have information related to this incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 931-520-5321 or Dispatch at 931-526-2125
